Abstract

Health problems in orphanage children are often triggered by low awareness of maintaining personal hygiene, which risks causing diseases such as diarrhea, ARI, worms, fungal infections, and tooth decay. The urgency of this activity lies in the importance of instilling clean and healthy living behaviors from an early age to prevent disease and improve children's quality of life. The purpose of this community service is to provide hygiene and personal hygiene education through socialization and direct practice methods, as well as evaluating the knowledge of As-Shohwah orphanage children regarding hygiene education including washing hands and proper coughing etiquette, maintaining personal and dental hygiene, being aware of and preventing worm and skin fungal infections. The results of this community service are an increase in the orphanage children's understanding of personal hygiene, through direct counseling and educational leaflet media provided. From the results of the questionnaire analysis, it shows a significant increase in children's understanding of the importance of washing hands, maintaining personal hygiene, and the surrounding environment. However, there are still some children who still need assistance and reminders so that these hygienic habits can be implemented consistently. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing continuous education and periodic monitoring so that disease prevention through hygiene can be truly effective in the orphanage environment.
